Pasca Peperiksaan Profesional

Salam.

Post exam, we had a small tour before counting days for parting ways. We went to the Petronas Twin Tower for some sight-seeing in KL. It costs RM 25 for Malaysian and RM 75 for those who doesn't possess Mykad. It was a guided tour and I had fun.

What we did today was sight-seeing at Petronas Twin Tower, Iftar at Suria KLCC, Tarawih at Masjid Assyakirin, and Ngeteh at Chatime. And I managed to grab some books at Kinokuniya.

Here goes another pictorial post.

At the entrance

Colour-coded visitor's pass for everyone

Infant's pass for Hanani

Hanani thinks her papa is amusing

Happy faces and Hanani decided to pose differently

Let's recall the information given by the tour guides

Faein, Alia and Nadia are enjoying the view

This is the Twin Tower Bridge that might sway if the wind is strong enough

The sun is almost setting

Moving on to the 86th level

We went to the Sky Bridge, hurray!

More KL view from the 86th floor

I wonder what they were looking at

One can never separate Yed from Instagram

Show your ticket and you'll get to know more about the Twin Tower

We are over the cloud nine~

Tourist mode: I love bookmarks for my souvenir!

Iftar at Suria KLCC

This is what I call a wholesome meal *wink2

Ngeteh at Chatime. The hot tea is nice.

New books for me!

My all -time favourite Sherlock Holmes, my new favourite hero Artemis Fowl, and the rising hero, Percy Jackson. I was almost skipping and hopping around out of happiness. Too bad I haven't met anyone offline who has the same interest.

So, that's about it people. I'll be uploading more pictures on facebook since the pictures are adorable! I'll start posting about graduation dinner and go down the memory lane of my medical student life once I'm back at home.

MBBS 2013 - It's finally the end of the road

Salam.

Alhamdulillah, we have passed the 1st week of Ramadhan. May this Ramadan be better than the previous ones. With the official announcement of the Final Professional Exam result by our beloved dean, we are now the 3rd batch MBBS of USIM. This journey has ended, but another new journey with new challenges awaits. May we bring glory to our university and become the pride of our lecturers as competent Muslim doctors.

Can you distinguish our lecturers among us students?

It had been 7 years since we started this journey. The time spent together was great, but it was not an easy path either. A lot of blood, sweat, and tears were shed along the journey. It was a journey full of ups and downs, and there were times where we thought about giving up. Alhamdulillah, finally for 50 of us, our journey as medical students has ended. For the rest, they are great people with strong will and they will be joining us in 6 months' time. I would like to express my gratitude to all my friends, housemates, seniors, and lecturers for their endless support. And of course, my parents and family members who had been very understanding and supportive.

I survived without a study group! Hurrah! But *cough of course, with the help of my supportive classmates. I'm grateful. But still, Farah Diyana we did it! Yeay~

It was nice knowing you all. I bet I won't met anyone like you guys anywhere

There is one advice that I hold on tight to help me keep on moving. "Just do whatever that works for you, even though your way is a little different" I tried to recall, but I can't seem to remember who said that. I thank you whoever you are for telling me that, as having a different way of studying and degree of coping up sure is stressful.

My err..Wonderwalls? I need all these to survive, people.

Now it's time to pack our stuffs and bid goodbye to the hostel. During my 4 years stay at the building, I made few friends with the residents, which helps spicing up my daily life. There's the grocery store owner, a girl who lives on level 2, three brothers who really look alike, few kids who lives on level 5, and yes, a Chinese uncle who is always taking a walk around the area. It's a pity that I never get the chance to know our neighbour next doors.

I'm proud of my collection wohoo~

Thanks Faein, Nadia, and Hani for withstanding me and my antics. Love you all~

Thanks Faein for the special Running Man shirt. So, bila kita nak main ni?

Dr Fadzilah kata, " Lepas ni boleh la pegi jalan lagi" Terharu pulak sebab doktor ingat lagi....padahal dah setahun dah...huhu.... Mana tak nye, dah semangat sangat citer kat doktor siap tayang jam beli kat National Museum of Korea. Doktor tak nak ingat pun, terpaksa teringat

So, another go to Korea? My Hangeul has improved =P

A Story of Me, My Car, and the Students

Salam

Ramadhan has almost ended. it feels too short. especially because this time around I had to spend the first week of ramadhan in Ampang, the next two weeks in Temerloh, and the remaining week in Ampang again. Phew, that's a lot of traveling! May there will be a next year for us all.

Now, back to the topic. the first time I drove a car to go to the campus in Ampang was waaay back during my first year. It was an old dark blue Honda car which I parked at the roofed parking lot labeled USIM in Sri Pandan. Well surprisingly, one morning I found a note slipped under the car wiper. It says that I'm not the rightful owner of the parking lot, so I'm supposed to move out my car and park it somewhere else. Haha, veeery funny. I could guess who wrote the note for they left clues of who they are. But, it's kinda embarassing to say that it was written by U*** students because it wasn't a nice note and quite unpleasant to read. Hmm, simply put, it was an impolite note.

I didn't drive a car from the 2nd year until last year, when I started the Community Health Posting.

Then, I got another note from a different person this time, regarding the parking lot AGAIN. This time, it was full of CAPITAL LETTERS and EXCLAMATION MARKS!! What a rude note! The one who wrote the note called me upon learning that I drove the car and said sorry.

Oh, dear! I have done nothing wrong and I have to read these offensive notes?

And then, when I came back from my vacation to start the new semester, the note has been upgraded into a clamp. Yes, this time, my light blue Honda car was clamped (this is a different car than before). That idiot clamped my car because I didn't call him and ask for his permission to park my car there. It seem to me that he didn't make much effort to confirm that the car isn't a student's car as he didn't see the USIM-labeled lanyard that I purposely hang at the interior rear view mirror. Well, maybe part of it was my mistake and I won't mind taking the blame (if it really is mine). Hold on, I'm confused. why should I ask for HIS permission? I believe we paid the same amount of hostel fees. Or did he paid more? And other people have to ask for his permission to park there? Well, if that is really the case, I won't mind paying more.

But the truth is, that parking lot belongs to someone who rarely came home and not ours. So, in reality, he doesn't have any right to clamp my car at all. Well, I guess I have to settle down with the fact since I've paid the office to un-clamp my car already. I though the matter was settled when that fellow sent a stupid SMS blaming me for his mistake. Haha...he's making a fool of himself and we (several friends, a senior, and me)  had a very good laugh. We think that's very silly.

Now, the moral of my story is, people who seem kind and nice could actually be quite rude and annoying. Nice, yet rude. I know it is not fair to label people (especially budak sekolah agama) like that. But it's because of the few people who act harshly and seen by the outsiders. Yalah, sebab nila setitik, rosak la susu yang sebelanga tu, kan?

Malaysia memang maju. Tiap-tiap tahun bertambah bilangan pelajar yang berkereta. Aaah, I see...no wonder I always get those notes. The car that I drove is just an old 1989 car, unlike other people who drove brand-new cars, or their parents' luxurious cars.

Sekadar mengingatkan perkara yang mungkin terlepas pandang. It's true that budak-sekolah-agama are just human, but I believe it is their responsibility to act accordingly and not to hope that people would understand them. My story might not be applicable to all, so I'll apologize in advance to the others.

Makanya, sempena Ramadhan yang hampir pergi, saya titipkan sepuluh jari memohon ampun dan maaf atas kekasaran dan kesilapan.

orang pergi kursus kahwin, aku pergi kenduri kahwin

Salam.

It has been a long time. Idea Scarcity Syndrome...plus some other factors...hehe

It was my cousin's wedding. The first one among the cousins. Everyone was there and it's fun meeting everyone. Plus, I got a new baju kurung.

Everything was handmade

It was a 2 days event. Well, I couldn't be of much help since I had classes and baby deliveries to conduct (macam la org lain tak boleh buat). I'm sure everyone is exhausted and relieved that everything ended well.

the bride and her groom
(Lepas ni dah kena share Kak Yan dengan Abang Mathir...huhu)

Family members including us, the cousins were supposed to welcome the guests but the best part was, we get to eat as many as we can. I had 3 meals plus 1 take away. Apart from the Hari Raya, this is a good opportunity to meet and know the distant relatives too.

See, everyone got new clothes

Yesterday was windy but hot. Maybe I should drink more yesterday. Now I'm down with mild cold. (Alasan untuk malas buat kerja...huhu). Ah, it's making me sleepy....zzz...

Mat Saleh celup ni my cousin, ada yang berminat?

This weekend we're going to Batang Kali, the groom's house. Ooh, weddings are fun! Oh yes, but tiring. But still, it's fun.  So, kenduri Kak Yan dah selamat, I wonder who's next on the list? ;p

Oh, what am I doing writing a blog post when I'm supposed to prepare for the seminar this Friday! (haha...not that I'm sorry)

May Allah bless them both and give them strength through thick and thin

The PAC Run

Salam.

Kolej Tun Syed Nasir of UKM organized a Prostate Awareness Campaign (PAC) last Sunday. Among the activities are Prostate Cancer Exhibition, Health Screening, and 7 km marathon. 10 of us participated the marathon with an entrance fee of RM 20 per person (which doesn't come from our own pocket).

aen and ainul with the cheerleaders in blue

The last run that I participated was...say...a year ago? After being disappointed not being able to participate anything for the past year, I simply signed in for the run though I've never really like a long-distance run. It has been a long time since I last worked out and the best part was I couldn't even find my running shoes that I had to borrow from someone else.

muka-muka yang lari 7 km tapi tak turun training

We didn't know the track even though we did some of our trainings for the previous runs around Taman Tasik Permaisuri. Not knowing the track could be an advantage if you're in a good mood and surprisingly, I was quite optimist about finishing the run. It took me about one hour to finish the run, yet I still got a medal. For me, there are two possibilities; it's either because I'm in a good shape or it's just that they are not good enough (hehe...no offense).

046; the lucky number?

The event started at about 0700 hrs and we arrived at the hostel after some detours to Jalan TAR and SOGO at around 1400 hrs.

I would like to express my gratitude to:
  • Farah Diyana for the running shoes
  • Raihan and Nija for coming as supporters
  • Najmi Ahmad for the car
  • last but not least, Aen and Ainul for participating with me

riddles - who am i

these are the riddles for the Treasure Hunt competition at the English Gateaway. there are 8 of us, rahimie, baihaqi, faris, qayyum, hani, nadia, ummu, and me. see if you can Get the right person for each. ^_^

By car, by bus, or even by aeroplane,
Travelling is what i enjoy the most.

Bees are busy because they are hardworking,
But my weekends are busy because i'm loving it.

My acquaintances are many,
As i moved houses a lot,
Along the west coast i have been,
But  not yet the east coast.

Lion is fierce,
Dove is kind,
I may look fierce,
But i am very kind.

Den is to lion,
Burrow is to rabbit,
Hive is to bee,
As Pandan Indah is to me.

Barney loves you,
But Pooh loves me.

My hair is curly,
But i am not Reggedy Ann,
My spectacles are nice,
But i am not the Superman.

Hardy Boys, Famous Five, and Sherlock Holmes,
They are my friends since I was a kid,
Tahan and Kinabalu are gorgeous mountains,
But Ledang is the one that lies in front me.

The TV Freak

"Tv is my life"
- Kevin, Home Alone

my best friends:
  1. tv
  2. story books
  3. others
reasons i dislike living in the hostel:
  1. missing family
  2. no tv
  3. others
when it comes to sharing my thoughts, failure in phrasing the correct words is not uncommon. and i ended up telling something which doesn't hit the bull's-eye...

haha..how cute..

The Accident

"yeay, nak pegi maen paintball esok"
"kat mana?"
"melaka"

i had a short conversation with my brother on facebook that day. to begin with, i had an uneasy feeling about it. but, since he was happy that he'll be going, i believe it's ok because my parents must've given their permission.

*****

the phone suddenly rang when i was sleeping last night. i looked at the screen. it was mak long.

"syairah, mak long dengar syafiq jatuh, masuk hospital. macam mana dia sekarang? mak long telefon ibu dengan babah tadi, dua-dua tak dapat. mak long risau la"

(eh,weird.i didn't know anything about this. my parents must've told me if anything happened.)

"syairah tak tau la mak long, ibu tak de cakap pun"
"oh, syairah tak tau he? oh, tak pe lah, cuba telefon ibu tanya macam mana"
"ha, ok2, nanti syairah telefon"

*****

minutes later, i called Mother. after saying hello and a little chat, i straightly asked her what has happened. like i've expected, my brother went to Ayer Keroh under the school programme for the PMR students. he was doing the wall climbing when he fell to the ground. it was quite high and his head touches the ground first.

he's now stable and it seems like he's going to be ok. Mother said he'll be discharged by monday if everything is fine. but being a mother, she's worried because it involves the head. as any sensible daughter in the universe, i told her not to worry too much.

and my sister hasn't been told about this. her final exam starts next week. we don't want her worry so much and spoilt her exam.

sebenarnya banyak pengajaran yang boleh diambil. depends on how deep you want to think about it. i leave it to you guys..

akmal, nadia, hani, ummu, haafilah

pasukan USIM kecundang pada pusingan suku akhir. mengalahkan pasukan yang hebat. kalah kepada pasukan lebih hebat. menang bermaruah, kalah juga bermaruah. kesemua lima mereka sama hebat. prof cheng juga memuji mereka pasukan yang bagus. good job friends, you made us all proud.
